When Brooklyn Peltz Beckham and Nicola Peltz Beckham put up a united front, they don’t mess around.

Ever since Brooklyn confirmed in no uncertain terms that he’d been having major issues with his family since even before he married Nicola on April 9, 2022—a day that, according to the 26-year-old, went unforgivably awry—the couple have been unwavering in their support for each other.

And the lack of any conciliatory words in the six-slide bombshell that Brooklyn dropped on Instagram Stories Jan. 19 indicated that he and Nicola aren’t interested in reaching rapprochement, either.

“I do not want to reconcile with my family,” he wrote. “I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

Since Brooklyn detailed the slights he alleges were perpetrated against them by his dad David Beckham and mom Victoria Beckham, he and Nicola have since been going about their usual business à deux, documenting dog walks, coffee runs, meals, etc., on social media.

And for anyone under the impression that they’ve been pouring it on to make a point, know that Brooklyn and Nicola have never been shy about showing off just how utterly devoted to each other they are.

Brooklyn first posted photos of Nicola to his Instagram on Jan. 1, 2020, captioned with a single heart to show he was ringing in the new year with his new sweetheart.

But though they were endgame from that point on, it was not love at first sight when they met in 2017 through one of Nicola’s brothers. (The Transformers: Age of Extinction actress is one of billionaire investor Nelson Peltz‘s 10 children, eight of them with his second wife and Nicola’s mom, Claudia Heffner.)

“We didn’t get along, we just didn’t click,” she recalled to Tatler in 2022. “I had a boyfriend, he had a girlfriend.”

Brooklyn was “a friend but not a close friend,” she continued. “Then we ran into each other at a Halloween party two and a half years ago and I can’t tell you what happened but from then on we were inseparable.”

Brooklyn, however, remembered their first meeting at Coachella in 2017 a little differently.

“I was instantly drawn to her,” he told Glamour in 2025. “She was gorgeous, obviously, but it was her warmth and energy that stuck with me. Even though it was a blink-and-you-miss-it moment, I never forgot it.”

Nicola’s hindsight had grown rosier by then, as well, as she told the publication, that, while they were both seeing other people, “I felt something…there was this instant charm. He took a few photos of me, and somehow that moment stayed with me for years.”

And maybe even more importantly than giving him her heart, she had Brooklyn’s back when it came to his efforts to distinguish himself as more than just a member of the Beckham family.

“You can tell that when Brooklyn’s in the kitchen he’s in heaven,” she told Tatler of her husband’s culinary endeavors, which she started filming during the pandemic and turned into cute video tutorials. Previously, she added, he’d been under “a lot of pressure to please people with his career and he didn’t love it.”

Not to mention, Nicola added, Brooklyn was consulting her father for business advice.

“I watch him call my dad and say, ‘What do you think about this?'” the 31-year-old said. “I love watching him learn from my dad.”

Brooklyn also credits Nicola with giving him the extra push to launch their hot sauce brand Cloud23 (which got its name, according to Brooklyn, from the day he proposed, June 23, and his father’s jersey number with Real Madrid and the L.A. Galaxy).

“I did about a month of research and [asked myself], ‘What can I get into? What hasn’t been done?’” he told InStyle in 2024. “I landed on something and was like, ‘How can I make this me?’ I was so confused. I was at home and literally my wife was like, ‘Why don’t you do this? Why don’t you do your own version of that?’”

He also, incidentally, said that, while he “couldn’t ask for better parents,” he was “just trying to work my ass off and trying to make a name for myself. That’s all I can say, really.”

Brooklyn has since declared otherwise, alleging in his Jan. 19 Instagram Story that his parents tried “endlessly to ruin [his] relationship” since before he got married and that they referred to Nicola as “‘not blood’ and ‘not family.'”

But now they’re both Peltzes and Beckhams, another sign of the degree to which he and Nicola wanted to intertwine their lives.

“We thought about it for so long,” he explained to Instyle about compounding their names, “and we were just like, ‘When we have kids, we would love to have little Peltz Beckhams running about.’ I just thought it was a cute idea to have both, two last names.”

And if it were up to him, the Peltz Beckham baby boom would be underway.

“I always wanted to be a young dad,” he noted, “but, obviously, up to my wife. My wife really wants kids as well. So soon, hopefully.”

Nicola told Glamour that keeping her name also mattered to her, “especially as a woman. If you don’t want to give up your name, combining them is a good solution.”

By then, after they weren’t at either of his parents’ 50th birthday parties, there were rumors that the couple were estranged from the rest of the Beckhams. As a rule, Brooklyn said, they tried to “ignore the noise” and enjoy their private world. “Keep your head down, work hard, be kind,” he explained. People are always going to talk. What matters is that we’re happy together.

So while his decision to go into such detail about the Beckham family rift—which in their native U.K. is being compared to no less than the fracture within the House of Windsor—raised plenty of eyebrows, perhaps Brooklyn saw it as a way to put the issue to bed in order to not have to speak about it again.

“My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation,” he concluded his Jan. 19 missive. “All we want [is] peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.”

Their subsequent posts have indicated, however, that they’re still into sharing more idyllic scenes from their private world with millions of people.

“My parents always said, ‘When you meet the right person, you’ll just know,'” Nicole told Glamour. “As a kid I was like, What does that even mean? But it’s real. It’s this calm feeling, a sense of safety that takes over your whole body. I’d never felt that before”

Brooklyn, meanwhile, knew that “you should marry your best friend. Someone who feels like home. For me, that’s Nicola.”
