Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are spending less and less time together, insiders tell Globe.
“There is this sense that he’s more like an afterthought these days,” reveals a source. “Michael seems to get left in the dust a lot.”
Though the Basic Instinct star, 81, has taken a step back from acting, his 56-year-old spouse is currently starring in a new movie, The Gallerist, as well as two streaming TV series: Wednesday and Kill Jackie.
“For a guy who’s used to being at the center of the action it’s very hard to adjust to this new quieter chapter in his life,” notes the source, “and having his wife still running at full tilt makes it that much harder.”

The actress recently detailed to People how her social schedule is packed, too, with Zeta-Jones sharing that she likes to regularly hobnob “with New York business people, Wall Street people, art people.”
“I used to go and love to look at people’s art in their fancy houses in the Hamptons,” she told the publication in an article published on Monday, February 2.
According to the source, the situation is “complicated” for her husband of 25 years as they lead increasingly separate lives.
“Michael is always super supportive of Catherine — he loves to see her happy and would never try to guilt her into staying home with him — but he just doesn’t have the energy to keep up with her,” says the source. “He’s feeling the distance.”
