Health Update: Health Update: How this five-star Caribbean hotel is rewriting wellness: from hormones to rhythmic health – What Experts Say– What Experts Say.
I arrived at The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman with one clear intention – to explore the resort’s brand new spa and wellness offerings, following its much-anticipated reopening in November. What I didn’t expect was how seamlessly wellness would be woven into every part of my stay, beginning the moment I stepped into my room.
As the hotel’s on-site Wellness Consultant, Nadine Dumas has introduced a first-of-its-kind role for the property, and a fully integrated, concierge-style wellness experience that feels deeply personal, intuitive, and refreshingly human. Guests who opt in are invited to a 60-minute personalised consultation, where Nadine takes the time to truly understand how you live, feel, sleep, eat, move, and what you need most in that moment.
Her approach is built around five pillars of wellness she’s designed for the Ritz guest: nutrition, exercise, stress management, sleep, and, where relevant, hormonal health. From there, she curates a bespoke wellness journey for your stay, whether that’s guiding you towards nutrient-dense dining options, coordinating fitness sessions or outdoor experiences, or recommending the most suitable spa treatments to support your goals.
Nadine’s approach is thorough, looking at every pillar of health. We started with my hydration and nutrition habits – admittedly a weak spot for me. To boost my daily vitality, she introduced me to the property’s signature blends. My personal favorites were the Evergreen Sea, which felt incredibly hydrating with its coconut water and lime base, and the Radical Mango, a potent anti-inflammatory mix of passion fruit and turmeric that provided a much-needed energy lift.
But the real “switch off” happened through the movement and mindfulness she recommended. Moving away from the blue light of my phone, I leaned into the restorative sessions Nadine suggested. The Floating Sound Bath was a particular revelation. A deeply soothing experience that effectively dissolved my stress, it left me feeling grounded, rested, and entirely reconnected with myself.
I stayed in one of the new Guest Wellness Rooms, a concept Nadine helped bring to life, and without exaggeration, one of the most thoughtful hotel experiences I’ve encountered. Pilates and yoga equipment were already set up, a Theragun waiting invitingly in the corner, alongside curated cold-pressed juices and smoothies developed in collaboration with Chef Sam.
A locally crafted sleep mask, ESPA pillow mist, and Nadine’s personal favourite – a mushroom adaptogen–infused box of chocolates – rounded out the experience. I didn’t want to leave the room.
Nadine’s background explains the depth. With nearly two decades in the wellness industry, her work spans functional medicine coaching, DNA testing, and menopause coaching, with a particular focus on creating highly personalised wellness journeys for women. She’s worked with thousands, guiding them through everything from stress and emotional eating to perimenopause and hormonal shifts, always meeting clients exactly where they are. That concierge-style, evidence-based approach is now embedded into the Ritz experience and it shows.
The hotel itself remains a masterclass in quiet luxury. Designed by Champalimaud Design, the interiors are serene and residential rather than overtly “resorty”. Soft corals, clay tones, and hand-painted ceilings subtly echo the rhythm of the Caribbean Sea. It’s elegant, calming, and encourages you to slow down without ever trying too hard.
Spanning 20,000 square feet, the spa is undeniably the heart of it all. It’s now partnered with ESPA and 111Skin, offering both holistic, sensory-driven treatments and cutting-edge, clinical skincare. The new hydrotherapy circuit with four cold plunge pools and revitalised steam rooms sets the tone beautifully, and post-treatment refreshments and light snacks ensure you linger rather than rush, which I certainly did indulge in.
Nadine suggested I try the 90-minute Exosome Regeneration Facial ahead of its official launch this month, making The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman the only hotel in the Caribbean to offer this advanced 111Skin treatment. Exosomes are powerful cellular messengers that encourage collagen production and repair, and undeniably the future of regenerative skincare.
This was a no “fluff” facial. A double clinical cleanse followed by radio-frequency energy sculpting that left my skin feeling actively worked, lifted, and renewed. The glow was extraordinary and lasted for days. I skipped makeup because I simply didn’t need it.
My stay wasn’t about escapism alone. It was about intentional wellbeing, thoughtfully designed and beautifully executed. Even technology played its part, as the hotel’s new app allows you to manage everything, from spa bookings to room service, keeping the experience seamless and stress-free.
Between Nadine Dumas’ pioneering wellness concierge role, the transformative spa, and the hotel’s serene, design-led atmosphere, The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman has created something genuinely special, a new standard for luxury spas where you leave not just relaxed, but truly restored.
I felt grounded, glowing, and already planning my return. Because once you’ve experienced wellness at this level, there’s no going back.
