Health Update: Health Update: New Wellness Room opens to support Pondera County residents – What Experts Say– What Experts Say.
The Pondera County Health Department is proud to announce the opening of a new Wellness Room, a dedicated space designed to support the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of residents throughout the county. The Wellness Room is part of the department’s continuing efforts to expand access to behavioral health, reduce barriers to care, and provide a safe, welcoming environment for anyone seeking support.
For many rural communities, finding private, reliable space for health conversations can be a challenge. The new Wellness Room helps bridge that gap by offering a confidential, comfortable setting where individuals can meet with behavioral health professionals, navigate resource referrals, receive health education, or simply take time to focus on their personal wellbeing.
“Our goal is to make care more accessible for everyone in Pondera County,” said the Pondera County Health Department. “The Wellness Room gives residents a place where they can feel safe, supported, and heard. Whether someone needs help managing stress, connecting with services, or accessing behavioral health appointments, this space is here for them.”
The Wellness Room functions in partnership with the department’s paperless appointment system, which allows residents to schedule their own appointments by scanning a QR code or by calling the office and having staff assist with booking. This system ensures flexible access for a wide range of community members, including those with limited internet, transportation challenges, or busy schedules.
Community members may use the Wellness Room for:
Behavioral health appointments
Oneonone support sessions
Connecting with recommended services
Education on wellness, stress reduction, and healthy living
The Health Department emphasizes that the Wellness Room is part of a broader commitment to reducing stigma around behavioral health. By integrating wellness supports into a familiar local setting and offering user-friendly scheduling tools, the department hopes to make it easier for residents to seek help early and often.
“Everyone deserves a place where they can find support,” the department added. “The Wellness Room was created with our community in mind-respectful, confidential, and easy to access.”
The new Wellness Room is now open during regular Health Department hours. Residents can schedule an appointment at any time by scanning the QR code posted throughout the community or by calling the Health Department for assistance.
