Market Update: SIT’s new 2026 programme prepares future green economy leaders – Full Analysis

ASTP pairs students with chiefs and overseas immersion to close green skills gap.

The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) will introduce new programmes in Academic Year 2026 to support Singapore’s green and digital economy, according to a press release.

One addition is the Applied Sustainability Talent Programme (ASTP), offered as a Second Major in Applied Sustainability.

SIT said the programme aims to prepare high-achieving students to become sustainability leaders who can support green transitions across industries.

According to the university, the ASTP combines sustainability training with industry-linked projects, mentorship from Chief Sustainability Officers, and overseas immersion programmes.

SIT will also launch a Minor in Entrepreneurship and a Minor in Artificial Intelligence from AY2026.

The entrepreneurship minor builds on SIT’s Entrepreneurship Education and Development (SEED) programme.

The university said the programme focuses on applied learning, mentorship, and industry collaboration to help students develop innovation and problem-solving skills.

Meanwhile, the AI minor is designed for students from all disciplines and will equip them with foundational and applied AI skills, culminating in an industry-linked team project, SIT said.

In addition, SIT has refined several existing specialisations, including Applied Finance, Travel and Tourism, and Sustainability Engineering, to ensure students gain more industry-aligned skills.

The university also announced updates to its Master of Health Sciences programme, which now includes a Competency-based Stackable Micro-credential pathway.

SIT said the pathway allows healthcare professionals to progressively upskill toward a full Master’s degree while potentially receiving recognition for prior learning.

“Together, these programmes reflect how education must evolve to meet changing workforce needs,” said Professor Chua Kee Chaing, President of SIT.

Applications for SIT’s 40 undergraduate degree programmes are open until 19 March 2026.

The university will host its Open House on 7 and 8 February, alongside a Virtual Open House offering an online preview of courses, campus life, and career pathways.
