The Congress on Saturday described the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra as a landmark moment in India’s political journey, saying it significantly reshaped public discourse by highlighting growing economic inequality, social polarisation and political authoritarianism.
In a post on X, Congress general secretary (communications) Jairam Ramesh recalled that the Kanyakumari-to-Kashmir foot march concluded three years ago with a speech by Gandhi in Srinagar.
Ramesh noted that the nearly 4,000-kilometre-long padyatra was undertaken on foot by Rahul Gandhi along with more than 200 Bharat Yatris and lasted over 145 days. The march passed through 12 states and two Union Territories.
According to him, the yatra played a crucial role in taking key political messages directly to the people and emerged as a deeply transformative event in the country’s politics.
The Congress leader added that the Bharat Jodo Yatra would be remembered and valued for years to come.

The march concluded on January 30, 2023, with leaders from several political parties joining Rahul Gandhi in Srinagar, marking the end of his ambitious journey from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.
