“I am not a bully.”

These were the words of Londie London as she faced backlash for comments made about fellow cast member Christall Kay during a recent episode of “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip Rio de Janeiro”.

In episode 9 of the show, London made a controversial remark regarding Christall’s eye condition during a FaceTime conversation with her friend and castmate, Annie Mthembu.

She joked, “Sometimes you’re just not sure who she’s looking at. You know, like you want to look someone straight in the eye.”

This comment did not sit well with viewers, who took to the social media platform X to express their disappointment.

Viewer @Sakhilenavy21 commented, “For Londie to be well under the Showmax comment section taking up for Christall against the ladies bullying, she forgot she was on camera with Annie on the phone making fun of Christall’s lazy eye with Annie who is laughing as if her eye doesn’t fall flat?”

Another viewer, @princekmentor, added, “That Annie & Londie London FaceTime was so distasteful. Annie on FaceTime, judging Christall’s eyes like she’s carrying the show. Meanwhile, she’s added nothing of interest or entertainment . No substance, no memorable moments. Just unnecessary shade.”

@peachesrobyn remarked, “Londie??? The same Londie who was bullied by Minnie has the audacity to talk sh*t about Christall’s eyes? I must be seeing things.”

Meanwhile, @sooVogue_Moya stated, “I don’t know why y’all are shocked about Londie; she’s always been a mean girl.”

In response to the backlash, Londie issued an apology on social media, stating that her comment was intended as a joke.

“It was a bad comment that was supposed to be a joke; it didn’t land well, xolani bandla [forgive me],” she wrote.

She further clarified, “I am not a bully; I know how harmful bullying can be, and I would never encourage or condone it. And I did say I honestly love Christall. Let’s focus on the positive, guys. I was not even in Rio.”

Londie’s history with bullying accusations is not new.

In season five ofThe Real Housewives of Durban”, she was involved in a heated exchange with former cast member and radio presenter, Minnie Ntuli.

This clash escalated to the point where Ntuli threw insults and repeatedly poked London in the forehead, leaving both her and the viewers stunned.

Despite the physical and verbal aggression, London remained composed, labelling Ntuli as “horrible” and a “bully,” and questioning her overall behaviour.

Following the incident, Ntuli faced public backlash, with many viewers calling for her removal from the show.

During the reunion, London revealed her intention to pursue legal action against Ntuli.

Ntuli later issued an apology, stating, “I want to sincerely apologise to the affected cast members. I know my actions hurt others, and for that, I am truly sorry. I have reached out to them privately and publicly, and I remain committed to making amends, including having face-to-face conversations if and when they are open to it.”
