Health Update: Health Update: 4 Gen-Z wellness trends that everyone can get into for 2026 – What Experts Say– What Experts Say.
When we look at the previous generations of adults, we can see that work often took priority over all else in life. For Boomers, work WAS life. Their lives were defined by their careers, often supporting an entire family on just one income, and grew up with the belief that their hard work would pay off for both themselves and their children.
Gen-X…well, they still worked hard, but they played harder. I mean, they are the Woodstock generation. Gen-X grew up with very little parental supervision, partied until the sun came up, and still clocked in to their office jobs bright and early in the morning.
Millennials. Are…are you guys okay? Riddled with anxiety from all fronts, financial, societal, and environmental, millennials get a lot of slack – but you can’t argue they aren’t high functioning. With many of them holding more than one job or side gig, they truly invented hustle culture. They are so efficient with their work that they have time to cry between meeting calls.
Now that Gen-Z are adults and have entered the work force, there’s been a shift. Sure, people like to throw around that they are lazy, entitled, and/or have no work ethic…but they are the first generation in a while (ever??) to prioritize their physical and mental wellbeing over a job.

So when you want to get wellness advice, look to Gen-Z.
Spurred by the cooling economy, Gen-Z is predicting a few changes to wellness trends for 2026. People still want to better themselves, of course, but either more efficiently (for our busy-body Millennials), more affordably (for our Gen-Xers newly retired or planning ahead for it), or more accessibly (for our Boomers, who are wise enough to know health is the greatest salary of all).
Regardless of your age, these are the top wellness trends to keep an eye on for 2026! Though I’m leaving Generation Alpha out of this one since…they’re still kids. My only advice for them is to stay in school and read more.
Saunas
For this one, major credit goes to the Scandinavians, who’ve had this figured out for centuries. It’s hard not to connect their legendary sisu (an almost gritty, joyful resilience to hardship) and their consistently top-ranked happiness to a culture where the sauna is a weekly, sometimes even daily, sanctuary.
Physically, the deep dry heat of saunas works miracles on sore muscles and feels like a full-system reboot. Mentally, it forces a quiet moment that’s become increasingly rare in our digital age. Then, combine those two with the practice of contrast therapy – jumping straight into a cold plunge after. Science has shown contrast therapy sharpens focus and lifts moods for hours.

For Boomers: If you’re more well-traveled, saunas probably aren’t that new to you, but I recommend looking for one with a more community driven aspect for socializing and meeting new friends.
For Gen-X: Chances are…you need a quiet place to relax and decompress. You may also be familiar with saunas, spas, and bath houses, so just make the time to take care of yourself.
For Millennials: Don’t worry, not all of them require you to be naked. No one is looking at you or judging your body. Take a book to help you ease into it.
For Gen-Z: I promise your phone will be safe in the locker. YOU DON’T NEED IT.
Wellness retreats
Travel is always good for the soul. A combination of taking a break from work and immersing yourself in new environments is not only good for your body, but good for your mind as well. However in 2026, we’re seeing a shift away from the typical individual trips to group trips.
Specifically, wellness retreats.
People want to RELAX, so expect to see a rise in yoga retreats, meditation retreats, even retreats focused on forest bathing. In 2026, there are still small group tours to fit every travel style, but they will likely have some sort of wellness angle to them. Which is a good thing! If you are currently part of a hobby, look into asking your studio to host a group trip for everyone! That way you’re doing something you already love AND getting a travel experience out of it!

For Boomers: Traveling with strangers may seem intimidating, especially to a destination you’ve never been before, but I promise you’ll be in good hands.
For Gen-X: You’re probably already an expert with group trips, but take a chance on one that prioritizes wellness or a niche hobby. It’ll be good stress relief…which you are in desperate need of.
For Millennials: Taking an actual vacation means from your side gig too!!!! Look away from your email inbox enjoy the moment while you’re there, instead of waiting for your photo app to remind you how much fun you had.
For Gen-Z: You can also make friends…off-screen!! The common interest of the group will make things less awkward and
More sleep
After a decade of romanticizing hustle culture and the grind…America is tired. And honestly…America looks tired.
Sleep WILL BE the new trend for 2026. With new devices like Oura rings, someone’s sleep score will be what is idolized and flaunted in the coming years. Move aside Birkin bags unless it comes with a sleep mask. You have time to sleep?? LUXURY – or at least, that’s what it’ll feel like.
When you sleep, your body is hard at work repairing muscle, consolidating memories, and balancing hormones that regulate everything from appetite to mood. Your brain is also doing the same, using that solid seven to nine hours to clearing away mental clutter so you can wake up with sharper focus, greater emotional resilience, and a genuine sense of calm.
To prioritize your sleep, it does take a bit of dedication that may involve a nighttime routine, placing your phone on do-no-disturb, and timing your dinner and workouts so you are not up too late.

For Boomers: You’ve been sleeping your whole life and mayyy think you’ve got this thing in the bag, but be sure to check the conditions of your pillows and mattresses. It might be time for a refresh, and your neck and back will thank you!
For Gen-X: I know you’ve been operating on fumes since the 80s, but I promise your body will welcome the change. Sleep is also essential to combat skin aging and elasticity.
For Millennials: GO TO BED!!! NO YOUR NAPS DON’T COUNT!!!
For Gen-Z: You already know how lovely sleep is. Let me just advise you to get less blue-light before bed (hint hint, less screen time) for a more restful and rejuvenating slumber.
Home hangouts
And the last 2026 wellness trend tackles financial and social wellness. Meeting up with friends has gotten too darn expensive these days. It seems like every time you leave the house, you’re spending at least $100 minimum – nevermind if you’re making it an occasion with loved ones.
Thankfully, this one is easy and applicable to all age groups. Simply move your hangouts to home. The popularity in supper clubs and hosting is revitalizing in 2026, an entertainment artform that has been lost since the youth of the Boomers, so we need to look to them for a best ideas, while also putting a modern twist on things.

Gather your friends and try these ideas at home:
-
cookbook club: either pick one cookbook for the year, or a new cookbook each month, and everyone cook a recipe from it
-
watch parties: gather at someone’s house to watch a tv show, movies, documentaries, or even award shows
-
board game night: either all come over for one specific board game, or everyone bring one from home to play together
-
home DIY: if you have a home project that needs to get done, like painting a room or building furniture or even organizing a pantry or garage, invite your friends over to help over music and food!
