The media personality’s ex-girlfriend pulled an interesting twist in the case when she filed for a restraining order against him following their tense interaction at his home.
According to her, Simpson claimed she was wrongfully arrested and has suffered financial abuse alongside attempted illegal eviction from Hounsou.
Simpson added that apart from their December drama, there was also another incident in October where Hounsou yelled at her in front of her kids and literally stood nose-to-nose with her in a heated conversation.
TMZ reported that Simpson’s pleas bore fruit as the judge granted her a temporary protective order against Hounsou. The judge also ordered him to stay 200 yards away from Simpson and their children until the hearing in February, while he avoids any form of contact with her.

The model’s former partner reacted to her arrest by providing a recording of their conversation, which happened before her arrest, while she was traveling out of the state for a vacation.
As reported by The Blast, Simpson engaged in a conversation with the actor, demanding that her keys be returned and insisting that he had no right to evict her from the home, or else she would involve the police.
Hounsou also played a role in the tense exchange and referred to his ex as a bitter person who is hung up on her divorce. Simpson stressed that while all this was going on, she was standing in the doorway of Hounsou’s vehicle and trying to stop the door from closing with her arms.
Despite claims that Hounsou attempted to close the door on her, Simpson insisted that she did not charge towards him as he had claimed, nor did she injure him. Instead, she recalled stepping back from the conversation after which Hounsou headed to the police station.

Before obtaining the restraining order, Simpson had declared that her intention to conduct their affairs with utmost privacy, respect, and healthy communication remained firm.
Simpson has also had to deal with the actor changing the security system of the home and installing a garage code to stop her from entering the property. The actor’s ex insisted that, regardless of all that has happened between them, she does not see Hounsou as her adversary. According to her:
“Djimon is not my enemy; he is the father of my two beautiful toddlers. I have consistently aimed to support, empower, and collaborate with him, both within and beyond our relationship.”
Simpson noted that her priorities have remained to guide the situation in a way that their kids will not have to deal with the consequences of their actions. The actor’s baby mama stressed that she was hopeful to find a place of balance and unity in the near future for the sake of their families and their kids.

Sour relationships are not the only things keeping Hounsou awake at night; his finances as a professional actor have also created a hole in his heart.
As noted by The Blast, the actor had expressed in 2023 a frustrating feature in his career where he constantly has to prove himself to get paid compared to some of his colleagues.
“I’ve come up in the business with some people who are absolutely well off and have very little of my accolades. So I feel cheated, tremendously cheated, in terms of finances and in terms of the workload,” the filmmaker stated.
He vented about how producers often consult him with embarrassing offers, using him as the last resort, with crumbs on the table as an offer of payment.
The actor also touched on the lack of awards for his hard work despite starring in incredible blockbusters in the industry, such as his breakthrough movie “Amistad,” “America,” and “Blood Diamond.”
