Traffic in parts of New Delhi will be closely managed on Tuesday due to the India-European Union summit and a formal dinner for EU leaders at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
In light of this, the Delhi Traffic Police have released an advisory for commuters to organize trips in advance, as rains have compounded congestion across major routes.
Importantly, certain roads such as Janpath, Windsor Place, and Mathura Road will prohibit vehicle halts or parking, with violations leading to towing and prosecution.
During the afternoon, special traffic arrangements will be strictly implemented until the evening.
Priority restrictions are scheduled from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm to aid dignitaries’ transport for the dinner event.
Commuters are urged to avoid key routes like Janpath Road and Akbar Road, with several diversions put in place at major intersections.
Alternative roads suggested include Prithviraj Road and Vande Mataram Marg. For those heading to transportation hubs, extra buffer time should be anticipated.
The public is encouraged to utilize public transport wherever possible and heed the directives of personnel managing the situation, especially given the rainy conditions affecting roadways.
