WASHINGTON: NASA is preparing for the upcoming SpaceX Crew-12 mission to the International Space Station with a series of briefing events scheduled for Jan. 30. These briefings will be held at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston and will be streamed live on NASA’s YouTube channel.

The first session at 11 a.m. EST will focus on mission details, including launch preparations, with NASA officials and SpaceX representatives providing updates. The second at 1 p.m. EST will feature the Crew-12 astronauts themselves, who will discuss their upcoming journey to the ISS. This will be the final media opportunity with Crew-12 before their launch from Kennedy Space Center in Florida, which is tentatively scheduled for mid-February.

SpaceX Crew-12 will carry NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway, ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev. They will launch aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft atop a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral. NASA and its partners are reviewing options to potentially move the launch date earlier than the original target of February 15.

Media interested in attending in person must contact the NASA Johnson newsroom by Jan. 29, while those wishing to join the briefings via phone should do so by Jan. 30 morning. The briefings will feature leading NASA officials, including Ken Bowersox, Steve Stich, and Dana Weigel, along with representatives from SpaceX and ESA.

Jessica Meir, a veteran astronaut with previous spaceflight experience, will command Crew-12. Hathaway is making his first spaceflight, bringing extensive flight experience from the U.S. Navy. Adenot, a first-time space traveler, has a background in engineering and helicopter piloting from France. Fedyaev, who previously flew on the ISS during NASA’s Crew-6 mission, is making his second long-duration stay in space, with a distinguished career in Russian aviation and cosmonaut training.

This mission continues NASA’s collaboration with international partners and SpaceX to maintain crew rotations at the ISS, with preparations underway for a successful launch and mission duration.
