Health Update: Health Update: Local health event offers personalized wellness plans – What Experts Say– What Experts Say.
CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Dozens gathered at the M.E. Lyons YMCA in Anderson for the “New Year, New You” health event, aimed at helping attendees create personalized wellness plans. Participants engaged in various fitness activities, including a low-impact strength class led by YMCA fitness instructor Jamie Warf. “This was barre and it’s a low impact strength class, lot of core work, a lot of strength,” Warf said.

Kroger Health professionals were on hand to provide health screenings and advice. Pharmacist Ben Prewitt emphasized the importance of monitoring blood pressure as we age. “It’s very important as we age to know where our numbers are running. Because that is something that can creep up on you without you knowing,” he said. Registered dietitian-nutritionist Marcella Ranieri offered guidance on incorporating healthy foods into meals.

Attendees also had the opportunity to consult with the Vein Center of Cincinnati about leg pain and venous insufficiency. Dr. Andrew Hearn, a vascular surgeon, noted, “A lot of patients come to us directly because they’ve been ignored a lot in the past. Venous insufficiency is underdiagnosed and under treated.”
