Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Manoj Jha, a prominent Opposition leader from Nitin nabin’s home state Bihar, said Nabin’s elevation as BJP chief was the party’s “internal matter”. Then he added that the election had been “pre-decided”.

“There was nothing like an electoral process in all of this. Whatever happened was pre-decided,” Jha said, while congratulating Nabin.

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi also said Nabin’s election was the party’s decision, adding that it was being made into a “big issue.” “The real issues are that a Muslim person was lynched by mob, unemployment…” ANI quoted Owaisi as saying.

BJP’s Tamil Nadu co-incharge Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy reached Nitin Nabin’s office at the BJP HQ in Delhi to congratulate him. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday congratulated the newly elected BJP president, Nitin Nabin, in New Delhi. “I am fully confident that under the able leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nitin Nabin would take the sangathan to new heights with dedication and commitment. Congress MP Manickam Tagore termed Nitin Nabin’s becoming BJP national president a matter of “selection, not election”.

“There is no democracy in BJP, only home minister Amit Shah and PM Modi take the decisions and they have proved it again. We hold elections in the Congress; Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor were candidates and voting took place. This is called democracy,” he told news agency ANI.

Bengal was a key mention in Nitin Nabin’s addressing at the BJP headquarters after announcement of his name as the party’s 12th national president. He yrged party leaders and workers to make an all-out effort to ensure the BJP’s success in the upcoming assembly polls in five states, including West Bengal, to “protect the Sanatan traditions and faith” and the country from “demographic changes”.

Nabin said there is a need for the youth to come forward and participate in “positive politics” to fulfil Prime Minister Modi’s resolve of making India a developed country.

“At the same time, I would also like to point out to the youth that there is no shortcut in politics. Politics is not a 100-metre race but a marathon, in which one’s stamina, not speed alone, is tested,” he said, as per news agency PTI

On Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that Nitin Nabin is his “boss” in party matters now, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera has remarked, “They (BJP and RSS) can keep playing games among themselves. Sometimes (RSS chief) Mohan Bhagwat becomes someone’s boss; sometimes Modi becomes someone’s boss.”

He added, “Is Bigg Boss game being played here?” referring to the popular reality show.

Khera was asked about the development at a press conference in Delhi, where he said, “Where is the election? Why do you even call it an election. You announce the president first and then say there will be an election, and then there is no election.”

Nabin was made BJP’s National Working President some weeks ago, and on Tuesday was elected unopposed as he was the only in the fray to succeed JP Nadda in the position.

The Congress last held it internal election for chiefship about four years ago, in which Mallikarjun won against Shashi Tharoor. The party had Sonia Gandhi as president for several years before that, barring a stint for Rahul Gandhi in between.

Placing Nitin Nabin’s election as BJP chief in historical context, Bihar legislative council member Anil Sharma said this elevation evoked memories of the state’s earlier contributions to national leadership. Nabin, 45, a fifth-term MLA from Bankipore assembly constituency falling in the state capital region of Patna, is the youngest leader to head what is described as “the biggest political party in the world”.

West Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya on Tuesday underlined Nitin Nabin’s political maturity and long organisational experience as the latter formally assumed charge as the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“Nitin Nabin is a mature politician and has been in politics for a long time,” he remarked, projecting confidence in Nabin’s ability to steer the party at the national level, ANI reported.
