Amapiano vocalist Thatohatsi Raphadi penned a heartfelt message on social media, thanking everyone who took the time to defend her amid the body-shaming remarks directed at her on the “Piano Pulse” podcast.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, January 18, the singer shared that the heart-warming comments and messages she received from everyone who supported her made her feel like she is back to her old self again.

“I would like to thank each and everyone who has been so supportive to me. I read your messages, comments and videos that were made to uplift me, ngyabonga ngok’khulu ukuy’thoba (thank you very much).

“Without God and you guys, I don’t think I would’ve gained so much strength to come back and be myself again,” she shared.

Raphadi further said that the love and support they gave her felt like a huge and warm hug that was filled with so much love and care.

Last week, a short clip from an episode of the podcast went viral where the co-host Sfiso “Mafitsotso” Ndlovu joked about Raphadi’s body and said, “Even if I were to lock her up and make her drink oil, she would never gain weight, she’s originally like that.”

While Nota Baloyi, who featured as a guest on the show, added on to what Ndlovu was saying about Raphadi’s appearance.

“Thatohatsi’s body is not amazing, Zee Nxumalo’s body is amazing. When you’re styling Thatohatsi, you need to be smart and do things that will make her look good,” Baloyi said.

Reacting to the remarks about her appearance, she shared a heartbreaking video on TikTok, using the podcasters’ comments as the background sound for her video, showing how hurt she was.

Her caption caught the attention of many as she revealed that she is tired of having to defend her natural body and wrote: “Not suicidal, but I wouldn’t mind at this point.”

After she shared this video, social media quickly rallied behind her and shared messages that were comforting to the rising star, reminding her that she is perfect just the way she is.

Among those who supported Raphadi was Lady Du, who shared an uplifting message directed to the singer and reminded her that she is a true representation of African beauty.

Lady Du further said that Raphadi is also a representation of every skinny girl out there, and she is made in God’s image.

“I’m posting you on my wall to tell you how beautiful you are. I grew up a skinny girl, I loved my body, even when I didn’t have the confidence, but I embraced it,” she shared.

While the podcasters were shamed for their remarks, taking their time to sit down and make her appearance a topic when they could have discussed other things that are actually related to music instead.
