Residents, business owners, and community partners are invited to a community-led economic development open house on Jan. 20 at Stickleback Waterfront Grill.

The event aims to bring the community together to share ideas, identify priorities, and help shape a vision for Sooke’s economic future.

“This is a moment to come together, share ideas, and spark the kind of community‐driven solutions that create long‐term impact,” said local entrepreneur Katherine Strongwind in a news release. “We want to hear directly from the community about what’s working, what’s missing, and what opportunities we can build on. Your ideas will help guide the next steps in Sooke’s economic future. Every voice matters in shaping where we go next.”

The open house, running from 4 to 7 p.m., will feature interactive stations, opportunities for feedback, and conversations with local leaders and business owners.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore emerging opportunities, discuss local challenges, and contribute directly to a community‐driven approach to economic development.

“Strong communities are built with strong local businesses. By gathering real-world feedback from those operating in Sooke, community leaders can advocate more effectively, identify opportunities, and help create a business environment where both existing and future businesses can thrive,” Scot Taylor, of Stickleback and Westcoast Adventure College, noted in the release.
