Putin in India LIVE: Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in New Delhi’s Palam airport on Thursday evening, where he was received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two heads of state travelled in the same car as they departed from the Palam Technical Airport in Delhi. This marks Putin’s first state visit to India in over four years. He is in India for the 23rd Annual India-Russia Summit.
Putin is on a two-day visit to India, his first to the country after the conflict in Ukraine began. Later today, the Russian President will attend a private dinner hosted by PM Modi.
PM Modi and the Russian President have held five telephone conversations in 2025, and held a meeting earlier this year on the sidelines of the SCO Heads of State Council Meeting in Tianjin, China, on September 1.
India-Russia Annual Summit: Putin’s itinerary for two-day visit
• After a private dinner with PM Modi today, Putin is expected to attend a ceremonial reception hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at 11:00 am on Friday.
• The Russian President will then head to the Rajghat to lay a wreath in honour of Mahatma Gandhi at around 11:30 AM, following which he will reach the Hyderabad House.
• Putin will meet PM Modi at the Hyderabad House, the venue for the 23rd Annual India-Russia Summit. Modi will host a working lunch for Putin and the Russian delegation at the venue of the summit.
• The talks on Friday between Modi and Putin are expected to focus on deepening defence ties, as well as trade and energy cooperation.
• Kremlin spokesperson had also hinted at the possibility of discussions on Russia supplying Su-57 fighter jets to India, PTI news agency reported. Putin is also expected to apprise Modi on the ongoing US effort to forge a peace deal to bring an end to the Ukraine conflict.
• Following the meeting between the two heads of state, which is expected to last a couple of hours, press statements will be issued at the meeting venue at around 1:50 PM.
• President Putin will then attend a business event at approximately 3:40 PM, after which he will be meeting with President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. The Russian President will then leave for Moscow around 9 pm.
