A 17-year-old is in custody and charged as an adult after a shooting Thursday afternoon at a Goose Creek home left a woman injured, police said.

Goose Creek police were called at 12:07 p.m. to a residence in the 200 block of North Pandora Drive, where officers found Arianna Epps suffering from a gunshot wound. Epps told officers she was shot by her cousin, who fled the scene, police said.

Officers secured the home so emergency medical services could treat Epps and transport her to a local hospital.

Investigators found multiple shell casings inside the residence and received conflicting statements from people at the scene, police said.

A preliminary investigation determined the juvenile’s intended target was Cameron Dixon, 20.

Police said an altercation occurred between the juvenile suspect and Dixon, and Epps attempted to intervene. The dispute escalated and gunfire was exchanged, striking Epps in the arm.

The suspect later arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was identified by police. Dixon was grazed by a bullet, leaving a bruise on his upper arm; he was treated at a hospital and released.

The juvenile is charged as an adult with two counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and one count of robbery. The investigation remains active, and additional charges are possible, police said.
