Health Update: Health Update: Students begin garden season at Health, Wellness and Environmental Studies Elementary School – What Experts Say– What Experts Say.
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) -Students at Health, Wellness and Environmental Studies Elementary School have started their annual garden season, working in the greenhouse to prepare for spring planting.
This week, students cleaned out the greenhouse, prepped soil and created plant tags for seeds they will grow throughout the season.
The students will later sell the flowers and vegetables at a spring sale.
“It’s amazing to see our students go out there and really know what plant it is, when they plant it, how much it has grown, how to do the soil, how to replant, it is a major deal,” said Shalon Tate, principal of Health, Wellness and Environmental Studies Elementary School.
The school has not set a date for the spring sale of flowers and vegetables.
Money raised from the sale will fund the program for next year.
