Tech Explained: Phase 1 of Science City 90% ready, gets AI & tech boost, to feature 360-degree gallery and Space Odyssey | Guwahati News in Simple Terms

Guwahati: The first phase of the Science City project in Sonapur near Guwahati is 90 per cent complete and is expected to be finished soon, officials said.The first phase includes the Gate Complex and the Space Odyssey building. The Gate Complex is planned to offer experiences using digital and AI applications, while Space Odyssey will house astronomy and scientific galleries.“The Gate Complex will have virtual reality zones and digital adventures among other things. Space Odyssey will have an astronomy gallery, and different thematic presentations of astronomy will be there. Further, there will be one immersive gallery,” Assam science & technology and environment council director Jaideep Baruah told TOI.He said six to seven galleries have been planned in the initial phase. “Maybe in the next one year, the entire Science City will be complete,” he added.Baruah said the immersive gallery will feature a 360-degree projection system designed to present different storylines. “Any story can be projected there. Our focus will be to project the science behind this kind of projection and such displays. People will enjoy the shows and will also understand the science and technology we used. That is a matter of education,” Baruah said, describing the project as “a centre of edutainment”.In July last year, Union cultural affairs minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat met Assam science and technology minister Keshab Mahanta in New Delhi to discuss the project.
