Mandya: TL Krishnegowda, CPM district secretary, alleged that both the JD(S) and the Congress are playing politics with public and youth sentiments over the issue of industrialisation in Mandya district.Speaking to reporters on Friday, he said Union minister HD Kumaraswamy’s recent statements on establishing industries were politically motivated and aimed at misleading people. Kumaraswamy represents the Mandya Lok Sabha segment. Krishnegowda said the minister’s claim that the state govt failed to provide land was an attempt to deflect responsibility. He stressed that Mandya urgently needs modern, high-technology industries in the public sector to generate large-scale employment. However, the ongoing blame game between the 2 parties, he said, reflected a lack of genuine commitment to industrial development.Challenging Kumaraswamy, the CPM leader demanded that detailed information be made public, including the names of proposed companies, the nature of production, sources of investment, and the number of jobs likely to be created. He also questioned whether any concrete proposal or land requirement plan was formally submitted to the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board.Krishnegowda criticised the state govt for failing to take proactive steps towards industrialisation, while also accusing the Centre of weakening employment security under the MGNREGA scheme. He further alleged that the Centre was moving towards privatisation of the transport sector through subsidies for electric buses.CPM leaders NL Bharatraj, B Hanumesh, and Chandrashekhar were also present.
