In light of the deteriorating security situation, the Embassies of India in both countries have issued alerts urging Indian citizens to avoid affected areas and comply with local instructions.
Indian nationals planning travel to Southeast Asia have been advised to avoid regions near the Thailand-Cambodia border, where armed clashes have erupted in recent days. Thailand
The Embassy of India in Thailand has warned travellers to avoid seven provinces near the Cambodian border. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) confirmed that, as of 26 July 2025, 10.00 hrs (GMT+7), martial law has been declared in specific districts of Chanthaburi and Trat provinces due to ongoing security incidents.
Affected districts under martial law:
- Chanthaburi: Mueang Chanthaburi, Tha Mai, Makham, Laem Sing, Kaeng Hang Maew, Na Yai Am, and Khao Khitchakut
- Trat: Khao Saming
Under martial law, authorities can impose curfews, limit movement, and conduct inspections. Tourists are advised to avoid border crossings, tourist sites, and viewpoints in these regions. Travel in and out of checkpoints is strictly restricted.
Areas to avoid in affected provinces:
- Ubon Ratchathani: Phu Chong Na Yoi National Park, Kaeng Lamduan, Chong An Ma Checkpoint, Yod Dom Wildlife Sanctuary
- Surin: Prasat Ta Muen Thom, Prasat Ta Kwai, Prasat Ban Pluang, Chong Chom, forest and border zones
- Si Sa Ket: Khao Phra Wihan National Park, Chong Sa Ngam, Kantharalak border zone, wildlife sanctuaries
- Buri Ram: Chong Sai Taku, Ta Phraya National Park, Ban Kruat border zone
- Sa Kaeo: Ban Khlong Luek Checkpoint, Rong Kluea Market, Prasat Sdok Kok Thom
- Chanthaburi & Trat: All checkpoints and border areas mentioned
Despite these restrictions, major tourist destinations such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Samui, Krabi, Pattaya, and Ayutthaya remain unaffected. Domestic and international transport services, including air, rail, bus, and ferry, are operating as usual.

Cambodia travel warning
In a separate alert, the Embassy of India in Cambodia has cautioned Indian nationals to avoid travelling to areas near the Cambodia–Thailand border. The advisory follows two days of violent confrontation in the region.
“In view of the ongoing clashes at the Cambodia-Thailand border, Indian nationals are advised to avoid travelling to the border areas,” read the statement issued on Saturday.

The embassy continues to monitor developments and urges Indian travellers to remain alert and avoid conflict-prone areas while in Cambodia.
