Health Update: Health Update: Westfield sees strong performance in health and wellness as shoppers act early on New Year goals – What Experts Say– What Experts Say.
After Boxing Day delivered strong trading at Westfield London, the centre has since seen an early rise in demand for health and wellness services with shoppers beginning to act on New Year goals before January.
As the post-Christmas sales period draws to a close, footfall has remained supported by longer dwell times, with visitors moving between shopping, dining, leisure, health and wellness services. The trend points to a broader shift in how major retail destinations are being used, with the post-Christmas sales window increasingly overlapping with experience-led and service-based activity, rather than being defined solely by discounted retail spend.
Katie Wyle, managing director, customer & retail operations, Northern Europe, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield: “During the usual post Christmas retail buzz, we’re noticing a shift in behaviour with shoppers kick starting New Year goals earlier. Proactive self-care is on the rise at the newly launched Health & Wellness offer at Westfield London where consultations for medical treatments and clinically led services are in demand.
Recently opened Effect Doctors are offering blood analysis to help plan improved health changes, whilst also offering on the spot vitamin D injections for those showing deficiencies. And with stats revealing that over 10% of females are iron deficient, their iron infusions are also proving popular. Meanwhile Stretch Labs are seeing more bookings of one-to-one sessions and Gymbox is attracting new sign ups with their New Year 50% offer as shoppers take the opportunity to invest in themselves and commit to a fitter 2026.”
