Delhi has ramped up its efforts to tackle worsening air pollution with stringent measures now in place. Starting Thursday, the entry of non-Delhi private vehicles failing to meet BS-VI standards has been banned, alongside the implementation of the ‘No PUC, No Fuel’ rule.
Fuel stations are actively enforcing the rule by refusing service to vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate. This enforcement is supported by automatic number plate reader cameras, voice alerts, and police assistance.
Authorities have stationed 580 police personnel at key checkpoints and have mobilized Transport Department teams to ensure compliance at petrol pumps and borders. Exceptions are made for CNG, electric vehicles, public transport, essential services, and those carrying essential goods; however, vehicles transporting construction materials face entry restrictions under GRAP IV.
