Delhi’s Environment Minister, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, issued an apology on Tuesday for the escalating air pollution crisis affecting the city, particularly impacting children’s health. He blamed the previous AAP administration’s policies for the situation.
During a press conference, Sirsa asserted the current government is making considerable efforts to curb pollution. He issued a public apology to Delhi’s residents, committing to incremental improvements in air quality, and noted that pollution control within a short timeframe is challenging.
Sirsa also criticised AAP leaders protesting at the Delhi Secretariat, accusing them of inaction during their tenure. Additionally, he challenged Congress figures Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for commenting on pollution only recently, despite being silent last year when the air quality index was similarly poor.
