URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — In the year since it opened, Urbana’s Health and Wellness Center has seen more than 2,000 members join and more than 50,000 individual visits.

Now, officials said they plan to celebrate the center’s one-year anniversary with a free admission event on Jan. 3 from 2-5 p.m. Community members are invited to walk the track, play basketball, volleyball or pickleball, use the fitness center and more.

Additionally, anyone interested in purchasing or renewing a 12-month membership can receive one month free if they make the purchase between 2-5 p.m. The anniversary membership special is valid in-person or by phone at 217-255-8601.

The Health and Wellness Center, located at 2002 E Washington Street in Urbana, officially opened on Jan. 6, 2025. Officials said originally, the goal was to have 800 members the first year. But, with more than 2,000 members, the center has more than doubled that goal in the first year.
