With Thalapathy Vijay’s political ambitions drawing global attention, Malaysian police have laid down strict “no politics” rules for his sold-out ‘Jana Nayagan’ audio launch, triggering fresh debate over cinema, celebrity power and cross-border political influence.
As Tamil superstar Vijay edges closer to an active political role in India, authorities in Malaysia have imposed strict restrictions on his upcoming ‘Jana Nayagan’ audio launch and Thalapathy Thiruvizha concert, making it clear that no political activity will be permitted at the high-profile event.
The mega audio launch, scheduled for December 27 at Stadium Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur, has already sold out and is expected to draw nearly 90,000 fans, including members of the Indian diaspora. Vijay, who recently launched his political outfit Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has emerged as a major political figure ahead of Tamil Nadu’s next elections—adding a sensitive political dimension to what is officially billed as an entertainment event.
According to Malaysian media reports, including Malaysia Gazette, the Royal Malaysia Police (Polis Diraja Malaysia/PDRM) have explicitly banned political speeches, slogans, banners, symbols, materials, movements, convoys, or live political messaging at or around the venue.
Authorities warned that strict action would be taken against anyone violating these conditions. Cheras District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Aidil Bolhassan clarified that permission was granted solely for an entertainment programme, stressing that the event must not be used, directly or indirectly, for political messaging.
The directive applies not only inside the stadium but also to its surrounding areas. Event organiser and distributor Datuk Abdul Malik Dashtigeer, CEO of Malik Streams Corporation, confirmed compliance with all guidelines, stating that the Thalapathy Thiruvizha concert would remain purely entertainment-focused.
Security has been significantly tightened, reflecting both the massive turnout expected and the heightened attention surrounding Vijay’s political transition.
Details about tickets:
Tickets for the event were released in three tiers via Ticket2U. Level 1 tickets, priced at MYR 319.98 (₹7,076), are nearly sold out; Level 2 tickets at MYR 217.98 (₹4,820) and Level 3 tickets at MYR 116 (₹2,565) have been fully sold out—underlining Vijay’s formidable fan base beyond India.
Directed by H Vinoth, ‘Jana Nayagan’ is slated for a Pongal release on January 9, 2026. The film, starring Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju, is widely touted as Vijay’s final film before fully entering politics, making the Malaysia event not just a cinematic celebration but a closely watched moment at the intersection of cinema and power.
