Agilent Technologies Inc. has opened a new India Refurbishment Center at its LEED Platinum–certified campus in Manesar, Haryana, reinforcing its long-term focus on sustainable science, affordability, and customer engagement in a key growth market.
The facility will deliver Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) analytical instruments restored to factory-grade standards and backed by Agilent’s standard warranty. For laboratories facing rising capital costs and growing sustainability expectations, the center offers a lower-cost pathway to access advanced technologies while reducing environmental impact.
The move reflects broader shifts across the life sciences and analytical instrumentation sector. As research demand grows, laboratories are under pressure to modernize equipment, manage budgets, and demonstrate progress on sustainability. Manufacturer-backed refurbishment programs are increasingly viewed as a practical application of circular economy principles—extending product lifecycles and reducing waste tied to new equipment production.
Refurbishment, Trade-Ins, and Lifecycle Management
Agilent’s refurbishment center supports its global Trade-In and Buyback Program, allowing customers to return used instruments for cash or credit toward new or refurbished systems. The company manages the full reverse logistics process, including deinstallation, packaging, and transport, while prioritizing reusable packaging to minimize waste.
Globally, the takeback and refurbishment program spans more than 200 products across 14 product lines, underscoring how central lifecycle management has become to its operating model. By retaining control over certification and quality, the company is positioning refurbished instruments as a reliable option for regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and environmental testing.
“India is a strategic growth market for Agilent, and the launch of our refurbishment center reflects our commitment to enabling sustainable science,” said Bharat Bhardwaj, vice president and general manager for Asia Pacific.
Financing, Training, and an Integrated Customer Hub
The refurbishment initiative is complemented by Agilent Financial Solutions and the Instrument Rental Program, which offer pay-for-use and pay-to-own options designed to align with project timelines and funding cycles. These programs are intended to help laboratories stay current as technologies evolve, without repeated large capital investments.
Agilent also inaugurated its India Education Center at the Manesar site, providing hands-on training and skills development aligned with global best practices. Together with the India Solution Center launched earlier this year, the campus now functions as a consolidated customer hub integrating equipment, workflows, training, and service.
“Our goal is to deepen customer engagement and deliver solutions that meet India’s scientific and sustainability objectives,” said Nandakumar Kalathil, country general manager for India.
From a broader sustainability perspective, the facility advances Agilent’s circular economy strategy. “The launch of the India Refurbishment Center is a significant step toward advancing circular economy principles in the scientific community,” said Warren Potts, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Applied Markets Group.
