Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has said that economic relations between Bangladesh and India are normal till now.  However, Dhaka is trying to normalize the political ties by easing tensions. He made the remarks at the secretariat on Tuesday after a meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Government purchase. 

Salehuddin further said, ”I always say that we have to see trade and politics in different vision.” 

The Finance Adviser, however, added, ”If we import rice from Vietnam instead of India, it will cost additional Tk 10 per kg.”

 He went on saying that it is not that political relationship with India has deteriorated. But we are trying to ensure that the ties not reach the bottom in any way. Replying to a query, Dr Salehuddin said that  Chief Adviser also trying to develop political relationship with India and Bangladesh do not want any bitter situation with any neighbor.
